Professor of Molecular Evolution, University of Auckland, Waipapa Taumata Rau

I am a Professor in the School of Biological Sciences, University of Auckland. My main research interests are in understanding how life evolved on the early Earth. My lab at the University of Auckland uses a combination molecular evolution, experimental evolution, computational analysis, genomics, and synthetic biology tools, and we primarily undertake our experimental work using microbes. I am currently Director of the Bioinformatics Institute and co-Director of the Digital Life Institute, both at the University of Auckland. I have lived, studied, and worked in Sweden and New Zealand.
