Professor of Surgical Research, University of Cape Town

I am currently an Emeritus Professor and Senior Scholar in the Division of General Surgery at UCT. I am a Surgical Researcher, specializing in aspects of mucus in health and disease, mainly in gastric ulceration, HIV-AIDS, cancer and respiratory diseases. I have also tutored in Medical Biochemistry to medical students. I was the Deputy Portfolio Manager in Student Support in the Faculty of Health Sciences and a warden in several University residences over 27 years. In 2015-2016, I acted as Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Student Affairs and Transformation at UCT.
