Ph.D Student in Historical Syntax, University of South Carolina

Anyssa (AJ) Murphy is a PhD student studying Historical Syntax at the University of South Carolina. Her research primarily explores the syntax-semantics interface and the way these relationships are organized and understood through morpho-syntactic constructions. While her MA work concerned primarily Classical Greek and atypical case-assignment patterns, her PhD work has been focused on the development of the periphrastic passive construction in English and how this system interacts with periphrastic systems of Germanic and Indo-European. AJ works with Professors Dr. Stanley Dubinsky and Dr. Kurt Goblirsch. AJ has taught Introduction to Language, Introduction to Language Science, History of English, and First Year English classes at the UofSC.
