Apostolos Davillas

Dr. Apostolos Davillas is an Assistant Professor, Department of Economics, University of Macedonia, Greece. Prior to this appointment, Dr Davillas was an Associate Professor and (previously) Lecturer (Scale B) at the University of East Anglia. Before these appointments, he was a (tenured) Research Fellow (and, previously, post-doc researcher) at the Institute for Social and Economic Research, University of Essex (2013-2019).

He is also a Research Affiliate at HEDG, University of York, a Research Associate at ISER (University of Essex), a GLO Fellow, and a Research Fellow at the RWI Research Network.

His research covers a range of topics such as the determinants of health, health care demand, utilisation of health services and health care costs, the economics of obesity, disability, and socioeconomic inequalities in health and health care. Part of his research also focuses on the survey measurement of health, and particularly the use of biomarkers as health measures for social science and (health) economics research.

On these topics, he published papers in the Journal of Economic Behavior & Organization, Journal of Health Economics, Health Economics, Economics Letters, Energy Economics, Review of Income and Wealth, Social Science & Medicine, Economics & Human Biology, and in high-impact interdisciplinary journals.
