Lecturer in Journalism, Kardan University (Afghanistan)

M. Asef Ghafoory, B.A., M.A. (Communication and Journalism) is Faculty Lecturer of Social and Political Science in the Journalism Department for Kardan University, Kabul – Afghanistan.
He is a trainer for the joint project of Peace Journalism between USIP, NAI, Kardan dan Oslo Met University.
He is a well-known journalist in Afghanistan with a specialization in the environment, peace, war, and crime reports. He had broad experience working in news agencies and media since 2006 from local radio and tv in Herat to national TV. He is the founder of ACMRI (Afghanistan Communication and Media Research Institute) and Solh News Agency.
Mr. Ghafoory also has experience in Government institutions. He had worked in the Ministry of Energy and Water since 2015 as a Communication and Media Specialist for the IRDP Project with World Bank. He became Chief of Staff in 2018 and Director General of Helmand Government Corporation in 2019 of the Ministry of Energy and Water.
At the academic level, Mr. Ghafoory was a lecturer in the Journalism Department of Herat University in 2014 and Bakhtar University in 2016 before joining Kardan University in 2019.
Mr. Ghafoory has received certificates of appreciation from the Ministry of Water Resources, River Development, and Ganga Rejuvenation and the CEO Office of Afghanistan in 2016 for his report in Water Journalism that contributes the successful reconstruction project of Salma Dam in Herat Province (The dam was built and funded by India for USD 300 million).
