PhD Student, Geography, University of Victoria

I am currently a PhD student in the department of Geography at the University of Victoria. I completed my MA in geography working under the supervision of Dr. Reuben Rose-Redwood and Dr. Denise Cloutier. I initially became interested in the field of food justice during my undergraduate degree in Environmental Sciences, when I explored food security from an ecological perspective. As an undergraduate, I worked as a volunteer at the UBC Institute of Oceans and Fisheries, soils research assistant at Agriculture and Agri-food Canada, and community development assistant at the Richmond Food Security Society. For my MA degree, I explored the social aspects of food justice. In particular, my research is about household food insecurity in Richmond, BC and how it is influenced by a combination of political economic structures as well as individual and community agency.
