Senior lecturer in Cardiovascular Physiology, Cardiff Metropolitan University

Dr McDonnell is the head of the Vascular Physiology Research Group and Senior Lecturer in Cardiovascular Physiology in Cardiff School of Health Sciences, Cardiff Metropolitan University.
He is currently principle investigator on a number of clinical cardiovascular physiology research trials: The ARCADE trial, investigating the impact of chronic obstructive respiratory disease on vascular health; the ACCT study, investigating the impact of ageing and hypertension on vascular health; and, the HIT LVAD trial (European Commission funded, Horizon 2020, Marie Sklowdoska-Curie Action grant), investigating the impact of Left Ventricular Assist Device implantation on patients with advanced heart failure. Dr McDonnell is currently an Adjunct Professor at Columbia University, College of Physicians and Surgeons, New York and an Honorary Research Fellow at Macquarie University, Australian School of Advanced Medicine, Sydney.
