PhD Student in Physics and Astronomy, University of Glasgow

I am a PhD student working at the University of Glasgow's School of Physics and Astronomy in the Institute for Gravitational research. My interests are in detector development for advanced gravitational wave detectors with a focus on materials characterisation of sapphire and silicon.

I am also active in public engagement and science outreach. I give talks about physics in schools and to scouts and guides groups as well as to the general public at science festivals and events or even in pubs and bars. I am interested in the lack of gender parity in physics and more broadly in science in general and to this end I am co-lead of the Glasgow chapter of ScienceGRRL and I am also involved in the Project Juno and Athena SWAN schemes.
