My research is focused on the historical and sociocultural dimensions of urban public spaces. I study how public spaces simultaneously shape and express collective histories, cultures, identities, political and social issues. After studying urban theory in France, I have carried out fieldwork in Brazil, exploring public spaces inside Brazilian favelas. After that, I explored different dimensions of infrastructural interventions in Brazil. Currently I am studying the representations of Montreal’s public spaces in Quebec cinema. Simultaneously, I am investigating the role of public spaces in historic cities and urban heritage.
