Bert Ingelaere is assistant professor (lecturer) at the Institute of Development Policy and Management (IOB), University of Antwerp (UA). He chairs the Great Lakes of Africa Centre.
His research focuses on the legacy of mass violence, mobility and the process of knowledge construction. He has undertaken over 40 months of fieldwork in Africa's Great Lakes region.
He was advisor or expert for international NGOs, the Belgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, The World Bank, the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda (ICTR) and a postdoctoral fellow at the Fund for Scientific Research - Flanders (FWO) and the Program on Order, Conflict and Violence (OCV), Yale University.
