After graduating from Griffith University in 1987 with a Diploma of Teaching, Dr Beryl Exley taught in early years and middle years classrooms in Government and Independent schools for 11 years. After completing her Masters of Education (Honours) qualification at Griffith University, Beryl worked as an academic staff member in English Curriculum and Literacy Education at the Queensland University of Technology from 2001-2017. During this time she undertook a teaching/research sabbatical in the Torres Straits. Beryl has been awarded a “Teaching and Learning – Scholarship of Teaching Award” as well as a “Teaching and Learning – Teaching Excellence Team Award”. In 2017 she returned to Griffith University in a Professorial capacity and currently teaches English Curriculum and Literacy Education in the Bachelor of Education program and in Research Methods in the Masters of Education programs.
