Bianka Vidonja Balanzategui

Adjunct Lecturer, James Cook University

Dr Bianka Vidonja Balanzategui, B.Ed., B.A (Hons), M.A. (Museum Curatorship), Dip.Foreign Languages (Italian), PhD. (History)  is an adjunct lecturer at James Cook University, published historian and historical consultant. She researches the sugar industry and migration history of tropical north Queensland.
She also has a keen personal and professional interest in the history of tropical north Queensland and her academic research exploring that history within an international context in both colonial and post-colonial time-frames is published in a range of academic journals. Currently she is exploring the literary history of the sugar industry of tropical north Queensland and its forgotten authors, poets and playwrights.
In her role as historical consultant she has provided historical interpretations for civic installations and signage; museum displays; and assisted with historical background material for a documentary, play and travelling photographic exhibition.
