I am a professor of History and Global Human Rights, and Director of the Centre for Peace Studies at McMaster University. I was previously a Human Rights Research Fellow at the Carnegie Council for Ethics and International Affairs, New York and a Research Fellow at the Danish Institute for Human Rights, Copenhagen, Denmark. I am the author of "Human Rights in Africa" (Cambridge University Press) and "Imperial Justice: Africans in Empire’s Court" (Oxford University Press).
