Brenda Hollweg is currently Research Fellow in the School of Fine Art, History of Art and Cultural Studies at the University of Leeds. A specialist in American literature and a scholar of the essay as literary and expanded cultural form, she is also a filmmaker. In Leeds, she has worked on a major research collaboration, on the aesthetic and affective dimensions of democratic participation: The Road to Voting, and has published on contemporary documentary and the video essay. In the past, she has worked as a journalist for the art sections of German newspapers and radio stations, including Sueddeutsche Zeitung and Bayerischer Rundfunk, Munich. She has also co-organized cultural and historical exhibitions in various other German cities. She is editing Worlding Art (2015), a collection of lectures and seminars by Carolyn Christov Bakargiev, creative director of dOCUMENTA (13).
