Brent Evans

Professor Evans conducts quantitative research on higher education policy using economics as a framework to focus on issues of college access and student success. His research interests include conducting and evaluating randomized control trials to improve persistence in online postsecondary courses, studying loan aversion and its effects on college outcomes, measuring the efficacy of financial aid on student and institutional outcomes, and examining high school interventions to improve college enrollment and degree completion. His work is published in outlets such as AERA Open, American Economic Journal: Economic Policy, American Educational Research Journal, Educational Researcher, Education Finance and Policy, Journal of Higher Education, and Research in Higher Education. He has received funding for his research from the Institute of Education Sciences and the Lumina Foundation. Professor Evans was an Institute of Education Sciences Fellow while he completed his PhD at Stanford University in the Center for Education Policy Analysis, and he also holds degrees from Harvard University and the University of Virginia.
