Professor and Deputy Director - Research, Institute for Future Environments, Queensland University of Technology

Dr Harch has worked on the statistical design of landscape-scale sampling protocols and monitoring programs, as well as the statistical modelling of spatio-temporal agri-environmental systems.
Dr Harch joined CSIRO in 1995 as a research statistician, and has held positions of research leadership in agri-environmental informatics since mid-2005.
She became Chief of CSIRO Mathematics, Informatics and Statistics in 2012 after serving as Deputy Director of the Sustainable Agriculture Flagship. She is now Chief of CSIRO Computational Informatics.
During her time with CSIRO, Dr Harch has worked on the statistical design of landscape-scale sampling protocols and monitoring programs, as well as the statistical modelling of spatio-temporal agri-environmental systems.

* Dr Harch has been awarded a:
* Bachelor of Science in Australian Environmental Studies with Honours from Griffith University, Queensland, Australia in 1991
* Graduate Diploma of Teaching (Secondary) from the Queensland University of Technology, Australia in 1991
* Doctor of Philosophy in Statistics from the University of Queensland, Australia in 1995
* Graduate Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (GAICD) in 2007.

Achievements
Dr Harch has received numerous awards including:
*ICT Outstanding Achievement Award at the Women in Technology Awards (2010)
*ICT Professional Award at the Women in Technology Awards (2010)
*CSIRO Mathematical and Information Sciences Leadership Award (2009) for her research leadership efforts in the division, as well as being a champion for the personal development of staff.
*Selected as a delegate to the Federal Government’s 2020 Summit with the theme: “Australia’s future security & prosperity in a rapidly changing region & world" (2008)
*Abdel El-Shaarawi Young Investigator Award from The International Environmetrics Society (2008). This award recognises a young investigator who has made outstanding contributions to environmetrics
CSIRO Mathematical and Information Sciences Innovation Award (2007) for her work on spatial modelling in riverine systems
*CSIRO Mathematical and Information Sciences Project Management Award (2004) for her work with the Ecosystem Health Monitoring Program in South East Queensland
*CSIRO Mathematical and Information Sciences Partnership Excellence Award (2003) for her work with the Ecosystem Health Monitoring Program in South East Queensland.
