My scientific and academic career started in 1993, with my doctoral project. I got my PhD degree in Biological Sciences at the Department of Genetics (DG), University of Barcelona (UB) in 1997. After several postdoctoral stays between 1997 and 2001 (Dept. of Medical Genetics, Helsinki University, Finland; Neuropediatrics Dept., Vall dHebron Hospital, Barcelona, Spain; Genetics Unit, Pompeu Fabra University, Barcelona, Spain) I got an Associate Professor position (Titular) at the age of 31 (DG, UB, 2001) and founded the Research Group in Neurogenetics, that I lead since then. I have been the Academic Secretary of the Degree in Biomedical Sciences (2009-2015) and the Vice Dean of Research of the School of Biology (UB) (2015-2019). I am currently the Head of the Dept. of Genetics, Microbiology & Statistics at the UB (2021-present). I got a Full Professorship position (Catedrático) in 2019, at the age of 49. My research group is part of the Consolidated Research Group in Human Molecular Genetics (AGAUR, 2017SGR738) and is integrated in the Institute of Biomedicine of the UB (IBUB, where I am a member of the Faculty Board), the Centre for Biomedical Research Network on Rare Diseases (CIBER-ER) and the Sant Joan de Déu Institute of Research (IR-SJD). I combine research projects primarily developed in my lab with the active participation in several large-scale projects through international consortia: PGC (Psychiatric Genomics Consortium, www.med.unc.edu/pgc/), IHGC (International Headache Genetics Consortium) and IMpACT (International Multicenter Persistent ADHD Collaboration, of which I am one of the founder members, www.impactadhdgenomics.com/). I have also been a member of several international collaborative groups with H2020 funding, where I have led work packages and been a member of the steering committee: Aggressotype (#602805, 2013-2018), MiND (#643051, 2015-2018, www.mind-project.eu), CoCA (#667302, 2016-2021, www.coca-project.eu) and the active Eat2beNice (#728018, 2017-2022, www.newbrainnutrition.com). I have developed all my scientific career in the biomedicine field, with focus on the study of the genetic basis of monogenic and multifactorial neurological disorders. I have supervised 15 Doctoral Theses and 9 Master Theses, and published around 180 articles in SCI journals (104 in the last 10 years: 2012-2021), 70% in Q1 journals and 33% in D1, with an average JCR of 6.8. Among the target journals, Science, Cell, Nat Genet, Nat Neurosci, Mol Psychiatry, PNAS or Am J Hum Genet. I have communicated results in national and international. Moreover, I have been the PI of 16 competitive projects, being the coordinator in three of the multicentric ones, and I have participated in 28 additional projects as a collaborator. I have reviewed articles for more than 30 SCI journals and I am a member of evaluating panels of national and international agencies (ANECA, ANEP, FIS, MRC Grants UK, ERANET Neuron, E-RARE, H2020, Oxford Welcome Trust, etc.). I have also been the guest editor of three special issues on psychaitric genetics published in reputed journals (Front Psych, Am J Med Genet B, Neurosc & Biobehav Reviews) and organized symposia in international meetings (World Congress of Psychiatric Genetics, 2014 and 2017).
