Bruce Krogh

Bruce Krogh is Director of Carnegie Mellon University in Rwanda, a Kigali-based branch of Carnegie Mellon University’s College of Engineering in Pittsburgh, PA. He received the B.S. in mathematics and physics from Wheaton College and the M.S. and Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from the University of Illinois. He joined Carnegie Mellon University in 1983, where he is currently professor of electrical and computer engineering. He moved to Rwanda as Director of Carnegie Mellon University in Rwanda in January 2012. Professor Krogh’s research has focused on the theory and application of computer control systems in a number of areas, including robotics, manufacturing, automobiles and flight control systems. His current research focuses on control strategies for energy-efficient buildings and data centers, and smart grid technologies for electric power systems. He has been a consultant to companies in the aircraft and automotive industries and has held visiting faculty positions Germany and France. He has served as the editor of several journals and conference proceedings and was founding Editor-in-Chief of the IEEE Transactions on Control Systems Technology. He is a Fellow of the Institution of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and a Distinguished Member of the IEEE Control Systems Society.
