Assistant Professor in the Department for the Study of Culture, University of Southern Denmark

Bryan Yazell is an Assistant Professor in the Department for the Study of Culture at the University of Southern Denmark and a Fellow at the Danish Institute for Advanced Study. His research investigates how literature reflects or intervenes in public debates regarding matters of social welfare in general and migrant groups in particular. While focusing largely on sources in the US, this scholarship is interested in tracing the transnational networks that shape the discourse around migration in a variety of fiction and non-fiction texts, from nineteenth-century travel narratives to recent speculative fiction.
