Budi Prayogo Sunariyanto

Budi is a research assistant at Purnomo Yusgiantoro Center (PYC).

At PYC, he is involved in various research topics, including but not limited to Energy Transition (Battery and EV Industry), Energy Security, Energy Law, and Geopolitics.

During his bachelor’s study, he was focusing on subsurface imaging technology and hydrocarbon exploration. He obtained his skills through study in class, fieldwork, worked as a teaching assistant, seminars, and On Job Training at Chevron Indonesia. Moreover, during his master’s study, he was focusing on subsurface modeling and characterization, with applications for oil, gas, and low-enthalpy geothermal fields. He also had an opportunity to finish his master thesis as a Geothermal Exploration Graduate Intern at HVC Groep, working alongside several professionals from TU Delft, VeeGeo Energy, Nederlandse Aardolie Maatschappij BV (NAM), Panterra, and a senior independent geoscience expert in the Netherlands.

Prior to joining PYC, he worked as a Geophysical Specialist for Subsurface Data Management System (SDMS) project, a research project collaboration between ITB and Special Task Force for Upstream Oil and Gas Business Activities (SKK Migas). He also worked as an Expert Staff at The House of Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia, providing research, scientific recommendations, substantial and technical support to the Member of Parliament of the Republic of Indonesia related to Energy, Mineral Resources, Research and Technology, and Environmental Affairs in Indonesia and the Asia Pacific.

In his spare time, he enjoys doing sports (volleyball), watching movies, and traveling.

He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Geophysical Engineering from Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) and a Master’s degree in Applied Earth Sciences from Delft University of Technology (TU Delft).
