Cansu Ekmekcioglu

PhD Candidate, University of Toronto

Cansu Ekmekcioglu is pursuing her doctoral studies in Information Science at the Faculty of Information at the University of Toronto where she is part of Third Space Lab in the Department of Computer Science. Her research interests are human-computer interaction (HCI), information and knowledge management, and social implication of data systems and Artificial Intelligence. Her current work looks at the use of information and digital technologies in post-migration service environments in Canada, Turkey, and the MENA. As a researcher, Cansu is driven to empower non-dominant, underrepresented, and marginalized communities by designing information and new technologies that have a positive impact in their lives. She is affiliated to Centre for Refugee Studies (CRS) at York University, member of Association for Information Science and Technology (ASIS&T), and Design Research Society.
