Professor, Director, Griffith University

Professor Cara Beal is Director at the Cities Research Institute and affliated with the School of Pharmacy and Medical Sciences, Griffith University. She has over 25 years of experience in the public, private and academic sectors and published over 100 peer-reviewed journal and conference papers on a range of environmental science topics including remote First Peoples essential service delivery and governance, digital water and smart metering technology, community and stakeholder engagement, remote and regional water-energy efficiency, and water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) in Australian and Pacific Island communities. Cara has been working closely with remote Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island communities for the last decade where she has been taking a participatory approach to better understanding the cultural, environmental and social aspects of climate-resilient water and energy provision.
