Postdoctoral Research Scientist, Jenner Institute, University of Oxford

I am currently working in Jenner as a postdoctoral research scientist in vaccine development. My background expertise revolve primarily around the area of upstream cell culture process development. Through my past and present research roles in some of the countries well-regarded laboratories. In late 2019, I have the opportunity to join Douglas’s lab to further optimise the ChAdOx vaccine manufacturing process, and we have applied our process which was designed for laboratory scale to large scale manufacturing suites ranges from 200L-2000L scale. Since then, I have been working as the lead scientist in process development for large scale cGMP Oxford/Astra Zeneca COVID-19 vaccine manufacturing and we have managed to complete the manufacturing process in a record time to supply enough vaccine for the clinical trial and commercial purposes. We have also been transferring our knowledge and technology to a lot of cGMP manufacturing places around the world in a bid to increase the vaccine supplies not only to developed countries but also a lot of developing countries around the world. Our vaccine manufacturing process which is economical allows the vaccines to be distributed at affordable cost which is important for the low middle income countries.
