Carly graduated from the University of Liverpool with a BSc (hons) in Marine Biology, before completing her MSc in Environmental Management and Sustainable Development at the Manchester Metropolitan University.
Catching the bug for waste management research during her MSc, Carly completed a PhD at MMU on the contribution of waste and resource management policy to the transition to the circular economy.
Since completing her PhD thesis, Carly has worked on a range of projects focused around the principles of sustainability, waste management and the circular economy. Her previous role focused on circular business models within the seafood sector and the management of single-use plastic waste generated by hospitals. Carly’s current work focuses on the safe use and end-of-life management of bio-based and biodegradable plastics.
