Carmel Pascale is a cultural historian of twentieth century Australia and a Visiting Research Fellow in the School of Humanities at the University of Adelaide. She researches settler nationalism, ideas of Britishness, the Australian Federation, and commemoration. Her PhD thesis traced the development of nationalism in South Australia from 1901 to the 1960s, with a focus on the state’s relationship with Britain and the empire.
