Assistant Professor of Community College Leadership, Mississippi State University

With over 20 years experience in higher education program development and management, Carol Cutler White has recently transitioned to a tenure track research and teaching position. Her goal is to expand the conversation and evidence about the role (and the value) of community colleges in the higher education sector. This involves research into the state governance of higher education and the associated funding allocations in support of community colleges. Her research will also focus on community college leadership and the skills needed to advocate on behalf of community colleges and equity at the local, state, and national level.

As a public administrator, White has research interests in examining how federal and state funding can complement each other to improve educational attainment and community economic outcomes. Drawing from her experience in workforce development, her research is focused on the P-20 pipeline and the future of work.
