Caroline Wanderley Souto Ferreira

Visiting Professor of Physiotherapy, University of Technology Sydney

Degree in Physiotherapy (1997), registered with the Regional Physiotherapy Council (CREFITO-1), under number 24847-F, since August 1997 and registered with the UK Physiotherapy Council, Health Professions Council (HPC), under number PH75881, from 26/01/2006 to 26/04/2008. Member of the Brazilian Association of Physiotherapy in Women's Health (ABRAFISM). Specialisation in Electrothermophototherapy (1998), specialisation in Manual Therapeutic Resources (2000), Master's degree in Biophysics (2002) and PhD in Nutrition (2005), all obtained at the Federal University of Pernambuco (UFPE). Post-doctorate at the University of Sydney (2015). Training at the University of Salamanca (2010), the University of Sydney (2018) and the University of Technology Sydney (2023). Specialist qualification in Functional Trauma and Orthopaedic Physiotherapy from ABRAFITO/COFFITO (2005) and Specialist qualification in Women's Health Physiotherapy from ABRAFISM/COFFITO (2019). As a physiotherapist, I have professional experience in the field of motor physiotherapy, treating patients using manual techniques, electrothermophototherapy, kinesiotherapy and hydrotherapy. I have been trained in Watsu I (Shiatsu in Water), World Watsu Representative; Halliwick Basic Method A/B by Beryl Kelsey, World Halliwick Instructor; Global Postural Re-education (G.P.R.) by by Prof Philippe Souchard; Bad Ragaz Method, taught by Peggy Schoedinger; Iso Stretching taught by Bernard Redondo; Intermediate Course in Hydrotherapy, taught by Mike Maynard; Evaluation and management of SIJ Dysfunction, taught by Claire Small and Samantha who are members of the Manipulation Association of Chartered Physiotherapists and Classical Pilates Training, taught by PilatesZone. As a lecturer, I was a Substitute lecturer at UFPE from January 2000 to November 2001 in the following subjects: Hydrotherapy, Massage Therapy, Therapeutic Exercises and Rheumatophysiotherapy; I was a lecturer at the Faculdade Integrada do Recife from March 2003 to January 2005 teaching the subjects of Kinesiology and Biomechanics, Physiotherapy Applied to Sports and was responsible for supervision in the area of Traumato-Orthopaedics of Supervised Practice I, as well as guiding students in the preparation of course completion work. At the moment I am a Full Professor at UFPE, in the subject Physiotherapy Applied to Women's Health, Permanent member of the Postgraduate Programme in Physiotherapy and Visiting Professor in the Faculty of Health at the University of Technology Sydney from February 2023. I am fluent in English, Portuguese and Spanish.
