Dr Carolyn Downs is an academic at Lancaster University Management school. She has been researching topics around gambling since 2001. Carolyn is an expert on the social and cultural history of bingo and led the first UK study on gambling and debt as well as being the first academic to investigate social gaming and potential risks to children and young people. Alongside researching and publishing on topics around gambling she leads EU-funded projects on enterprise education for socially vulnerable groups and recruitment and retention in the care sector.
