Catherine Shaffer

Adjunct Professor, Simon Fraser University

Dr. Shaffer is an award-winning social scientist located in British Columbia, Canada. She has a Ph.D. in Forensic Psychology and Law from Simon Fraser University. She currently is a Strategic Research Analyst for the Government of Canada. In this role, she assists in research projects on preventing violent, organized, and financial crime (e.g., money laundering and terrorist financing). She also is an Adjunct Professor in Forensic Psychology and Law at Simon Fraser University and a Director at the Canadian Association of Threat Assessment Professionals.

Broadly, Dr. Shaffer’s research and professional activities focus on the assessment and management of general and specialized forms of violence, the association between mental and personality disorders and violence, and evidence-based practices for working with individuals who engage in violence and other forms of offending.
