Charles Marty is a biologist (PhD) specialized in plant ecophysiology and biogeochemistry. He began his career as a post-doctorate fellow at Environment and Climate Change Canada, University of Montreal and University of Illinois at Chicago before working as a research scienstist at Carbone boréal, a research infrastructure of the Université du Québec à Chicoutimi. His main research topics are carbon and nutrient cycling in boreal forests and northern agriculture. He has published more than 30 articles in peer-reviewed scientific journals.
