Chris is Lecturer in German and World Cinemas at the University of Leeds.

His research focuses on cinematic representations of left-wing terrorism (the Red Army Faction or Baader-Meinhof group) and '1968' in Germany; the cultural memory of Baader-Meinhof; Weimar Cinema; Post-Wall and New German Cinema; the 'Berlin School' of filmmakers; genre; German popular cinema and star discourse; (Techno-) Orientalism; the relationship between Hollywood and China.
