In the modern world, Plastics have gained infamy as one of the most pressing environmental issues of our present lives. The situation results in a persistent, ubiquitous presence of plastics in the ocean. To better quantify global plastic pollution transport and to effectively reduce sources and risks, a thorough understanding of origin, transport, fate, and effects of riverine or oceanic plastic debris is crucial. These are the main goals of my present research activities, in complement to my original formation as physical oceanographer, mainly interested by the importance of salinity in the climate system.
