Christos Pitelis

Professor of Strategy and Sustainable Competitiveness, Brunel University London

I am Professor of Strategy and Sustainable Competitiveness and University Ambassador (Business Research and Engagement) at Brunel University London. I was previously Head of Brunel Business School.

I have co-founded and directed for twenty years the Centre for International Business and Management (CIBAM) at the University of Cambridge, where I am a Life Fellow of Queens’ College, and the University of Bath, where I was also a Professor of Sustainable Global Business. I have held visiting appointments among others at the University of California Berkeley; Copenhagen Business School; University of St Petersburg and University of Technology Sydney. I

am an Editor of the Cambridge Journal of Economics and literary executor of the collected papers of Edith Penrose. I have published in journals such as Academy of Management Review, Organisation Sccience, Journal of International Business Studies and Strategic Entrepreneurship Journal, and have served at numerous editorial boards of journals such as Organization Science, and Organisation Studies.

I have researched, consulted and co-ordinated projects for governments, the European Commission, the United Nations, USAID, the Commonwealth Secretariat and business corporations such as WPP and Diageo. I have also served as President of the Hellenic Organisation of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises and have extensive MBA teaching and executive education experience.
