Lecturer in Music Education, University of Southern Queensland

Claire is a lecturer and researcher at the University of Southern Queensland in Australia with specialisations in music education, teacher education and preparation, experiential learning, audiences in the performing arts, listening and community music. Previously she worked as a primary and high school music teacher for over 14 years with Education Queensland. A hallmark of her research is the ability to bring these diverse areas of interest together and synthesise original perspectives and approaches to doing research. Claire has special interest in qualitative research including applied philosophy, pragmatism and mindfulness. Highlights of her current research and practice include investigating children’s experiences of education concerts, orchestral music concert design and equipping community orchestras to engage audiences through creative concert curation.
