Dr. Coen Heijes holds a BA in Theatre Studies, an MA in English Language and Literature, an MA in Cultural Studies (Anthropology), an MA in Shakespeare Studies, and an MA in Shakespeare and Theatre. He is also a CPA and holds a PhD in Culture and Communication. He wrote/edited/participated in books on the abolishment of slavery, multicultural society, stereotyping, cross-cultural communication, and performing early modern drama today and has published in a wide range of journals. His latest monograph is Shakespeare, Blackface and Race: Different Perspectives (Cambridge University Press, 2020). He is a member of the editorial board of Multicultural Shakespeare and of the board of directors of the British Shakespeare Association.
