Colette is a marine scientist who is motivated to understand how ecosystems function, how they respond to changes and how this in turn impacts the livelihoods that depend on those systems. She likes to use science and local knowledge, and to engage with local communities and policy-makers, to design measures for the sustainable use and long term conservation of marine resources.
She has worked with fisheries and stakeholders in a variety of settings in Canada, the Caribbean, Middle East, South Pacific and West Africa.
Colette obtained a BSc in Biology and Environmental Sciences from McGill University (Canada), a MSc in Coastal Zone Management from the University of Newcastle-upon-Tyne (U.K.), and a PhD in Geography from the University of British Columbia.
