Professor Emeritus, School of Economics, University College Dublin. Have worked extensively in the past on the economic history of Ireland and on the economics and economic history of famines. Current projects include monographs on the Industrial Revolution (with Morgan Kelly and Joel Mokyr) and on the fate of civilian victims of the two world wars.
