Dan Hassler-Forest

Assistant professor in media studies, Utrecht University

Dan Hassler-Forest has a background in film and television studies and English literature. He is a science fiction scholar and cultural theorist who teaches Media Studies at Utrecht University.

He worked for several years as an editor and film reviewer, culminating in a position as editor-in-chief of the Dutch commercial film magazine Film Scene.

He has taught courses on media industries, transmedia storytelling, critical theory and cultural analysis. He has published scholarly books and articles on media convergence, genre cinema, critical theory, and zombies.

He is a frequent public lecturer on contemporary film, adaptation theory, animation and digital cinema, and theoretical approaches to popular culture and cultures of globalization
