Daniel Vuillermin

Research Associate, Research School of Humanities and the Arts, Australian National University

Daniel completed his PhD at the Research School of Humanities and the Arts at ANU in 2011. His thesis, a biography of the American artist Herbert Kruckman, incorporated social biography with art history and spanned the Roaring Twenties, the Great Depression, the Second World War, McCarthyism and the Cold War.

In 2005, Daniel served as editorial assistant, copy editor and proofreader for the Cambridge Edition of the Works of Jane Austen, Mansfield Park, edited by John Wiltshire. From 2006-07, he was editor of Who's Who in Australia (2008). Daniel has also been a research assistant on several projects including a study of Dr Samuel Johnson The Making of Dr Johnson (2009), forensics and the psy-sciences in the Victorian Children's Court system as well as the role of patient narratives in the history of medicine in Britain and Australia.

Research Interests: Life writing, the history of biography, biographical theory and methodology, artists' biographies, British and American art history.

Current Research Projects: A dual biography of Dr Samuel Johnson and Sir Joshua Reynolds.
