PhD Candidate in Psychology, Staffordshire University

Darel Cookson is a PhD researcher at Staffordshire University, under the supervision of Dr Daniel Jolley, Dr Robert Dempsey and Dr Rachel Povey, investigating belief in conspiracy theories and subsequently developing an intervention to combat the negative behaviours associated with conspiracy theory belief. Her research interests include social psychology and forensic psychology, with a particular interest in conspiracy theory belief; why people believe in conspiracy theories and how this can lead to negative social behaviours. She is a graduate member of the British Psychological Society, where she is a committee member of the Social Psychology Section. Darel’s main research areas are the psychology of conspiracy theories and the Social Norms Approach.
