Darel Cookson is Lecturer in Psychology at Nottingham Trent University and also a PhD researcher at Staffordshire University, under the supervision of Dr Daniel Jolley, Dr Robert Dempsey and Dr Rachel Povey. Her PhD investigates belief in conspiracy theories, specifically developing an intervention to combat the negative behaviours associated with conspiracy theory belief. Her research interests include social psychology and forensic psychology, with a particular interest in conspiracy theory belief; why people believe in conspiracy theories and how this can lead to negative social behaviours. Darel’s main research areas are the psychology of conspiracy theories and the Social Norms Approach.
