Dave is a passionate advocate of public engagement by scientists (especially on social media) and has been involved in a number of organisations such as the Australian Society of Medical Research and the Australian Academy of Science.

He is also a vocal proponent of evidence-based medicine and has written extensively on the topic, including on issues surrounding HPV vaccination. His current role is as the Director of Molecular Biology and Biochemistry at the Victorian Cytology Service where he is preparing for the primary HPV-based National Cervical Screening Program beginning in 2017.
