David A Guba, Jr.

I am an Assistant Professor of History at Bard Early College Baltimore. I completed my PhD in modern European hitory at Temple University in May of 2018, and my research examines the colonial history of cannabis in 18th and 19th century France. My first book,"Taming Cannabis: Drugs and Empire in 19th century France," was published by McGill-Queen's University Press in September 2020. I also am contributing editor for POINTS: The Blog of the Alcohol and Drugs History Society, where I write monthly blog posts on drugs in France, past and present. I am also a Books Review editor with Social History of Alcohol and Drugs: An International Journal (SHAD).
