Professor of Statistical Genetics, The University of Queensland

Professor David Evans is Professor of Statistical Genetics and Head of the Genomics Programme at the University of Queensland Diamantina Institute.

His area of expertise is in the genetic mapping of complex traits and diseases in humans by genome-wide association and other statistical techniques as well as the development of statistical methodologies in genetic epidemiology including approaches for gene mapping, individual risk prediction, causal modelling and dissecting the genetic architecture of complex traits.

He has a particular interest in the genetics of auto-immune disease and the possible link between viral infection and future risk of disease.

He also leads the NHMRC funded ADRENAL-GEPS study, a large consortium of intensivists, geneticists and statisticians investigating the genomic basis of septic shock.
