Honorary Lecturer, Bangor University

I have lived and worked in developing countries for 38 years as an agronomist. Initially I concentrated on participatory technology development, with special emphasis on semi-arid environments, as a means to support sustainable intensification of smallholder farming systems. More recently I have focused on farmer decision-making and livelihoods analysis, particularly in relation to the problems associated with small farms.
