David Mole

I completed my undergraduate masters in Geology at University College London in the UK in 2007. I then moved to Australia to undertake a PhD on the influence of crustal architecture on komatiite formation and localisation of their host Ni-Cu-PGE deposits. I completed this in 2012, and published four papers, one of which was the subject of a Conversation article, which I wrote for the Australian edition in 2014. Since 2012, I completed post-doctoral fellowships at Curtin University (Aus), CSIRO (Aus), and Laurentian University (Canada). In 2021, I started at Geoscience Australia as an in-house geochronologist and isotope geochemist. My research focus for the last 16 years has been understanding large-scale crustal architecture using the spatial application of geochemistry and geochronology. Through this and associated methods, we continue to investigate how tectonics and the Earth's crust influence holistic Earth systems, including ore deposit formation.
