David Morris is Director, Government Relations, in the Office of the Vice-Chancellor, at the University of Sydney and has also been Acting Executive Director of the China Studies Centre in its establishment phase.
Responsible for University of Sydney partnership initiatives with Government, David led the development of the China Studies Centre, a major new hub of education, research and outreach with China. He also managed a program of high level government-business-university roundtables at Shanghai World Expo 2010 as part of the University’s sponsorship of the Australian Pavilion.
He was appointed to the NSW Tourism Minister’s Taskforce on Tourism and Education, as the representative of the NSW Vice-Chancellor’s Committee and is an Honorary Associate of the Graduate School of Government, Faculty of Economics and Business at the University of Sydney. He is also a member of the Global Foundation’s Australia-China Dialogue and actively participates in the activities of the NSW Business Chamber’s Sydney First, the Asia Society and the Australia China Business Council.
David was most recently Director, International Business Relations, for the NSW Government. Heading a unit of the Department of State and Regional Development, David was responsible for initiating the Brand Sydney Project, coordinating NSW Government’s international activities, including inward and outward Government and business delegations to China and India, international promotions, joint projects with sister States, bilateral business associations, the education sector and the Australian Government’s global network.
