Dean Ashenden has worked as an academic, a political adviser/consultant to many national and State ministers, agencies and organisations, and in journalism. He is the author/co-author of books, monographs, reports and articles published in academic, professional and mass media including Time (Australia), the Sydney Morning Herald, The Age, The Australian, the Financial Review, The Independent Monthly, Australian Society, and others. He has been presenter of ABC Radio National’s Education Issues program and has contributed as a commentator and as compiler/publisher of The Good Universities Guides to many radio and television programs. In recent years he has written on education and other issues in The Weekend Australian, Meanjin, History Australia, Crikey, Inside Story, and Eureka Street.
