Dimitri Van der Linden

Clinical professor, Pediatric Department, Université catholique de Louvain (UCLouvain)

Dimitri Van der Linden was graduated in pediatrics at UCLouvain (University of Louvain, Belgium) in 2003 and was trained in the HIV field by Prof. Jack Levy at CHU Saint-Pierre. He then studied tropical diseases at the Institute of Tropical Medicine in Antwerp prior to work in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa, where he was in charge of a paediatric HIV clinic delivering care to more than 1500 HIV-infected children. Between 2009 and 2011 he did his fellowship in pediatric infectious diseases at CHU Sainte-Justine in Montreal. In september 2013 he defended his PhD thesis entitled « From infanthood to adolescence across the globe : growing-up with HIV ». He is currently working as paediatric infectious diseases consultant at Cliniques universitaires Saint-Luc (UCLouvain) and is a member of IREC (Institute of Experimental and Clinical Research, UCLouvain). He is teaching pediatric infectious diseases at UCLouvain-Brussels and clinical microbiology at UNamur. His main interests are transplant infectious diseases (especially in liver transplant recipients), HIV, tuberculosis, bone infections and Lyme disease. He is the FR spokesperson of the Belgian Pediatric COVID-19 Task Force and member of the GEMS (Groupe d’Experts de stratégie de crise pour le Covid-19) in Belgium.
