Dion Weatherley is a Geophysicist at The University of Queensland, specialising in rock mechanics and computational geoscience. Dion has applied his skills to investigate earthquake fault system dynamics, fragmentation and flow of rock masses in underground mining, as well as studies on fracture propagation within ore particles under typical minerals processing or geotechnical loading conditions. His interest in seismology commenced over 25 years ago, upon joining the QUAKES Research Centre in 1997. Since 2002, Dion has maintained The University of Queensland's seismic monitoring stations, provided advice to Queensland State Government and Emergency Services, and promoted public education on earthquake hazards and preparedness.
