Lecturer in Criminology and Sociology, University of Hertfordshire

I am currently a Lecturer in Criminology at the University of Hertfordshire and lead the modules Understanding Crime and Deviance, Hate Crime and Discrimination, and Sociological Theories of Crime. I am also the Athena SWAN Champion and Equality and Diversity Lead for the Hertfordshire Law School. Prior to this, I have lectured in Sociology and Criminology at Brunel University, Buckinghamshire New University and the University of Greenwich.

My PhD thesis, entitled 'Body Politics: A Critical Analysis of the Sexualisation of British Popular Culture and the Rise of Lads' Mags' explored the pornification of British popular culture, analysing the feminist and post-feminist arguments surrounding this. Since then, I have had work published in Feminist Media Studies (Routledge, Taylor & Francis) entitled 'Debating the F1 grid girls: feminist tensions in British popular culture' and continue to analyse gendered representations in the media and popular culture from a critical feminist perspective.
